Thomas Jefferson, Secretary of State, was forced to resign by President George Washington in 1794, for his believe that "states' rights" should hold sway over The Federal Government, an issue to be fought over in The Civil War, years later. The Federalists won! Jefferson's stint as president, was also considered a complete failure. Besides, The Louisiana Purchase and rebuilding The US Navy, he was considered a "do nothing" president. He believed, the less the government did, the better. Does this "ring" a bell? He was also, a Democratic-Republican. Another name for a Republican. Jefferson hated 'The Presidency," so much, it is not listed, with his other "accomplishments," on his tombstone. At the time of his death, he was $19,359,086.05* in debt! The pundits will tell you, the first republican was Abraham Lincoln. Not on my watch... When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.
